What is a certificate of inspection and why is it used?

An certificate of inspection is a set of sampling, measurement, testing, etc. operations performed by an inspection company to determine the quality and quantity of goods or services traded and compared with the specifications of the goods in the purchase contract, which are related to these operations. The inspection and the certificate issued is called the certificate of inspection.

The certificate of inspection is a proof of the health of the quality and quantity of the goods that the seller sends to the buyer. For this reason, this certificate is one of the most important documents for traders or buyers of goods, because in some cases, the seller of goods may issue less goods than the purchased goods or with lower quality due to profit or even mistakes, and do not fulfill his obligations fully.

As you know, this kind of problem has existed in trade since ancient times. In the past, to prevent further cases, traders were usually present at the time of production, packaging, shipping and delivery of goods, but as this issue became more advanced, especial companies comes to the market who do the inspection for traders and merchants so that the merchants do not need to be present at the time of production and packaging. It is important to know that in addition to checking the quantity, quality and price of the goods, the inspection companies also check the standardization of the goods. In fact, by entrusting the goods to the inspection companies, you can receive both the inspection certificate and the standard certificate of the goods.

Banking regulations and certificate of inspection

Also, according to the emphasis of the National Standards Organization on inspection and testing of imported goods, having a standard of origin based on the Iranian national standard and valid foreign standards is required by presenting certificate of conformity

How many types of certificates of inspection are there?

As you know inspection of goods are done in several ways, one of them is inspection of goods before shipment, which is also known as physical inspection. In this type of inspection, the quantity, quality, type of packaging and loading of goods are examined.

Another type of inspection of goods is inspection during production of goods. This inspection is to examine the parts used in raw materials and the production process of goods and products. This inspection is for goods that after its production, it is not possible or costly to check these items, therefore, the inspection is done during the production of the goods. Due to the long presence of the inspector at the place of production of goods, the cost of this type of inspection is more than usual. This type of inspection is commonly used for cosmetics, food, equipment and machinery.

The next inspection is the control of the price of the goods. In this type of inspection, the real price of the goods is checked. This type of inspection is done by the order of bank or institute who supports the importation financially since the merchant and the buyer know the real and common price of the product. And that only matters to the funding agencies. This is due to the lack of abuse of cheap currency and interest-bearing loans with low interest rates. Abuse in this way can be done at the time of pre-declaration of goods or by collusion.

The next inspection is a mandatory type of standard, which is one of the most important and complex types of inspection. In this type of inspection, the inspector company, on behalf of the standard organization, examines the goods in the eyes of the seller in the place where the goods are taken out, or examines the goods in the authorized laboratories of the standard organization.
